Program: Yirgalem Forest Code: ATE0057 Duration: 2 Days Transportation: Land Day 1: after Breakfast, we drive to Yirgalem. Yirgalem is about 40km away from town of Awassa. Yirgalem is a coffee region, and the scenery is extraordinarily lush and evergreen. The accommodation at Aregash Lodge is a traditional Sidamo House, a pleasant peaceful lodge with walks through gardens and forests. There are more than 100 bird species recorded in the area, and on our walks we can see hyena, jackals, and Columbus and velvet monkeys. Check –in at Aregash Lodge and walk into the forest. Program: Lake Awassa Code: ATE0056 Duration: 2 Days Transportation: Land Day 1: after Breakfast, we drive to Awassa, passing through Debre Zeit, and by the lakes of Koka, Ziway, Langano, Abiajjata and Shalla. At short distance from Shashamene is the town of Awassa. Lake Awassa with its mountainous background is one of Ethiopia’s most beautiful lakes and is home to a huge population of birds, and by walking along the shores, we can also see hippo, Colobus and velvet monkeys and baboons. Boats can be hired on the lake. Day 2: Bird watchers may like to take an early morning walk to the fish market for a variety of bird species.
